Is there life after lifestyle?
Publication, De Ketelfactory, Schiedam, 2016

This publication, produced in the context of the solo exhibition of the same title, starts from the observation that even an environmentally conscious way of life ultimately functions as a lifestyle choice. Sharon Houkema raises the question of what remains of identity and values when these are no longer shaped through lifestyle. Through installations and images, she examines how deeply lifestyle is interwoven with our self-definition, society, and systems of value — and how we move forward as these structures begin to disintegrate.
